Nondiscrimination Statement (All Grade Levels)

In its efforts to promote nondiscrimination and as required by law, the Hallsville Independent School District does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sex, disability, age, or any other basis prohibited by law in providing education services, activities, and programs, including Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.

In accordance with Title IX, the Hallsville Independent School District does not and is required not to discriminate on the basis of sex in its educational programs or activities. The requirement not to discriminate extends to admission and employment. Inquiries about the application of Title IX may be referred to the district’s Title IX Coordinator, to the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights of the Department of Education, or both.

Other federal laws that prohibit discrimination include Title VI, Section 504, the Age Discrimination Act, the Boy Scouts Act, and Title II.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs (Secondary Grade Levels Only)

The Hallsville Independent School District offers career and technical education programs in the following areas:

• Agricultural Education
• Consumer and Family Health
• Gateway to Health

Admission to these programs is based on grade level.

District policy prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, or handicap in its vocational programs, services, and activities, as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended.

District policy also prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, or handicap in its employment practices as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, as amended; and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.

The Hallsville Independent School District will take steps to ensure that lack of English language skills will not be a barrier to admission or participation in all educational and vocational programs.
